Daron Kirven, director of AIDS Arms Free World Bound Program, was recognized as one of POZ's 100.
According to POZ, "The POZ 100 list celebrates people working to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. In the past, we've highlighted groups such as researchers, youth, and long-term survivors, but this year we're focusing on a geographic region: the South." (full article here.)
Daron was recognized for his work with AIDS Arms and as the director of Free World Bound. Free World Bound serves individuals with HIV who are soon to be released from prison. Daron's work includes creating partnerships with the criminal justice system, connecting former inmates to HIV services, HIV prevention education in the prisons, and much more. "Daron's work serving some of the most marginalized communities affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic-especially in the Deep South-may be tough, but he does it all with the grace, efficiency and passion to truly make a difference." - excerpt from the POZ article.
David Hearn, founder of GDMAF and past board member of AIDS Arms, is also a 2016 POZ 100. Read David's story here.
